Lansare Scolii de Vara “Voluntarii care predau Limba Engleza”

La data de 20 August 2012 avut loc lansarea oficiala a primei ediţii a scolii de vara „Voluntarii care Predau Limba Engleza”. Evenimentul este gazduit de catre Liceul Bălăureşti din satul Bălăureşti, raionul Nisporeni.

La acest eveniment au participat 9 voluntari din diverse regiuni ale Republicii Moldova: Nisporeni, Cahul, Chişinău, Bălţi, Rîşcani, Floreşti, Ungheni; 30 de elevi ai claselor a 5a si a 6a de la Liceul Teoretic Bălăureşti, 7 membri ai echipei de implimentare a proiectului dat şi profesori din comunitate.

Şcoala de vară va dura 7 zile unde elevii îşi vor dezvolta abilităţile de comunicare în limba engleza, în acelaşi timp, voluntarii îşi vor antrena abilitatăţile de predare a limbii engleze şi vor promova voluntariatul ca formă de dezvoltare profesională şi cetăţenie activă.

Evenimentul este organizat de către Asociaţia Naţionala „Centru pentru Educaţie Continuă” în parteneriat cu Liceul Teoretic Bălăureşti, catedra Filologie Engleza, faculatea Limbi si Literaturi Straine, Universitatea de Stat „A. Russo” din Bălţi şi suportul voluntarilor din programul de Predarea a Limbii Engleze al Corpului Pacii Moldova.

Evenimentul este finanţat de către Ambasada Statelor Unite ale Americii în Republica Moldova,  Fundaţia Servicii de Dezvolare din Liechtenstein precum şi contributii comunitare din partea insitutiilor partenere si S.R.L. ROGOB.


Launching the 1st Edition of the Summer School in ELT

The first edition of the  summer school “Volunteers Who Teach English” will be launched on the 20th of August 2012.

The event is hosted by the rural High-school Balauresti, from the village of Balauresti, district of Nisporeni and is organised by the National Association “Continuing Education Center” in partnership with the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, A. Russo Balti State University and Peace Corps Volunteers, English Education Program.

The summer school aims to promote volunteering as a way of professional development for future English language teachers and recognise volunteers’ achievements as stipulated by the Law on Volunteering of the Republic of Moldova. Ten students coming from different universities from Moldova will attend this summer school and will teach English to a goup of 28 children from the 5th and the 6th grade from the High-school Balauresti.

The event is organised in the framework of the 5th edition of FELT School, a project implemented due to a grant awarded through Democracy Grants Program of the US Embassy in Chisinau and community contributions, including an in-kind donation from the behalf of  “Rogob” Ltd.

Summer School “Volunteers Who Teach English”

 20 -26 August 2012

Place: the High School Balauresti, from the village of Balauresti, Nisporeni district.

The association “Continuing Education Center” in collaboration with the English Philology Department, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, A. Russo Balti State University and the High-school Balauresti from the village of Balauresti, Nisporeni district is pleased to announce the first edition of the summer school “Volunteers who Teach English” organized in the framework of the 5th edition of FELT School.

Join our school if you want to:

  • Observe an experienced teacher promoting an EL lesson;
  • Access EL textbooks, courses, CDs and other resources for primary learners;
  • Plan EL lessons with a Moldovan or American teacher;
  • Hold EL lessons with an experienced teacher as well as individually;
  • Attend a training course and build leadership skills;
  • Participate in workshops and write a project proposal, devise a budget and learn how you can access funds for educational projects;
  • Enjoy teambuilding activities in the open air;
  • Find out about volunteer’s rights and receive a certificate of participation;

Our aim is to promote volunteering as a way of professional development and active citizenship by organizing a summer school which is entirely free:

  • there are no admission fees;
  • travel costs to the school site are reimbursed (to be confirmed via the email);
  • hosting high-school kindly offers the classrooms and accommodation facilities;
  • accommodation is provided in a modern student dormitory;
  • meals will be provided in the newly built canteen;
  • A committed Moldovan and American staff is involved in making this possible;
  • Volunteering students will  access resources for free in order to build their teaching portfolio and develop EL teaching skills; they will also be awarded a book and a certificate of participation at the end of the summer school;

Who Can Participate:

  • 3rd year students and MA students, future English language teachers;
  • Students from all the universities of Moldova;
  • Students currently studying at various faculties which imply a specialty entitling them to become EL teachers in the future ( for example: a specialty in French and English Education, or Russian and EL Education, Computer  Science and EL Teaching, Primary Education and EL Teaching, EL Teaching and Italian Language Teaching, etc.)

Job Description

The Training and Education Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing information campaigns and promotions to generate demand for FELT School’s educational activities, community service and volunteering initiatives to undergraduate and graduate students as well as schools and pupils who can benefit from our training, English education and volunteering components.


  • Work with the FELT School coordinator  to develop a marketing plan for  undergraduate and MA students, schools and associations which can benefit from our program;
  • Work with FELT School coordinator  to develop appropriate offers for the potential FELT School candidates that will drive demand for the FELT School program and will result in benefits for the student recruitment effort and invigorated effort in promoting community engagement and transparency of the program;
  • Work with the program coordinator, organizing committee, ELT supervisors to define key messages and themes for the education marketing campaigns;
  • Develop and execute marketing tools such as flyers,  films, photo slide shows  to reach target audiences;
  • Visit universities and inform the target audience about the FELT School program;
  • Take pictures, edit photos from the ELT summer school, make a film and publish it on you tube;
  • Develop content through creative writing, interviewing the volunteering students and the children who will participate in the ELT summer school and add the posts on the blog of the FELT school;
  • Direct volunteering students and partners from the partner organizations to create content for our blog;
  • Communicate with the beneficiaries of the ELT summer school,  the FELT School fellows/volunteers  and the members of the organizing committee from the partner institutions to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program;


  •  Background in one of the following areas is preferable: Marketing, Journalism, Education services;
  • Creative thinker with good research, analysis and problem solving skills;
    Must be a team player, flexible, detail-oriented, a self-starter, and willing to do what it takes to get the   job done;
  • Possess leadership and communications skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work with individuals at a variety of levels;
    Good written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Experience with Windows-based environment. Computer literacy including Microsoft office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher), photo editing and film making software, blogging skills and skills in uploading a film on YouTube ;

 University lecturers and  senior lecturers are invited to contribute to the organizing of the 5th edition of FELT School by applying for the following position: Member of the Organizing Committee from the behalf of the  English Philology Department, A. Russo University.

 Main Responsibilities:

• Participate in the training workshops organized for the implementation team in September-October 2012 and discuss, translate, improve and approve the FELT School Strategic Development Plan for the years 2012-2015;

• Actively participate in planning and organizing of the 1 week ELT summer school (20-26 august, 2012) by elaborating and approving the ELT curriculum for primary learners; (Supervising the students during the ELT summer school– is optional);

•  Participate in the elaboration of the FELT School Action Plan for the academic year  2013-2014;

• Create the Evaluation Committee and elaborate the guidelines of evaluating the volunteering activities organized by the volunteering students as part of the ELT summer school and FELT School in general and submit the project proposal for approval to the English Philology Department,  and the Counsel of Foreign Language Faculty,  A. Russo University;

• Develop the policy of recognizing the teachers’ contribution to FELT School and submit it for approval to the English Philology Department, A. Russo University;

• Organize the Evaluation Interview on Student Teaching in collaboration with the members of the organizing committee from the partner institutions, evaluate their teaching portfolio and nominate the students who will be awarded the FELT School certificate;

• Assist in organizing the 2nd edition of the symposium: Volunteering as a Way of Professional Development and Active Citizenship (February 2013);

Important :

Each person will work a minimum of 30 hours as part of the FELT school  during the period May 2012 – February  2013.

Let’s get ready for the Easter Party!

A new series of model lessons started on the 24th of March 2012 at FELT School. The activities are organised for undergraduate and MA students who are interested to observe, teach and discuss lessons based on Easter related activities.

The lessons are organised for  small groups of children. Five children, 1st and 2nd form pupils,  participated in the first activity.

Next session will be organised on the 31 of March 2012, from 11.00 till 12.00.
